No. 6 seed Jessica Pegula advanced to the quarterfinals for the second time in three years with a straight-sets victory over Diana Shnaider, 6-4, 6-2. Pegula has advanced to the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament seven times, while she has never advanced to a semifinal in her previous six tries. At the 2022 US Open, Pegula lost to Iga Swiatek, who she's now set to face again in the upcoming quarter-finals of US open 2024.

Iga Swiatek vs. Jessica Pegula head-to-head results

Pegula, the 30-year-old American, has been ranked among the top players in the world for the last few years, but she has yet to reach a grand slam singles semifinal. The sixth seed will try again Wednesday against a longtime nemesis, top-ranked Swiatek.

While no one wants to see the 23-year-old Polish star on the other side of the net, Pegula has reason for optimism. The Buffalo native has split her last four matches against Swiatek, all in 2023, and the world No. 1 hasn't looked unbeatable lately like she did earlier this year. 

This will be the 10th meeting between Swiatek and Pegula.
