Aryna Sabalenka will face Emma Navarro in the semifinals on Thursday. Sabalenka will be playing in the ninth Grand Slam semi of her career, while the NYC-born Navarro will be playing in her very first.
The two players have met twice before, both this year. Navarro beat Sabalenka 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the fourth round at Indian Wells, before Sabalenka returned the favor winning 6-2, 6-3 in the fourth round of the French Open.
Unlike on the men’s side, the two American women do not have to play against each other in the semifinals.
Navarro has the tougher of the two matchups and will play against No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka, the prohibitive favorite to win the tournament.
Pegula meanwhile will face off against unseeded Karolina Muchova, whom she beat earlier this summer in a three-set match in Cincinnati.
